The Xplosion Pyramid of Success
The Xplosion 14's had a great weekend of basketball. Defeating the Shooting Stars, Silver Bullets and 2 Long Island Lightining teams for a sweep of the Metro Showdown presented by Hoop Mountain. Friday night the Xplosion blew out the Shooting Stars 59-19 as Taylor Butigian led the way with 11 points and Samantha Doka added 10. Saturday morning they defeated the Lightinging 48-27 behind Taylor Butigian and Jackie Kennedy's combining for 25 points. Next up were the Silver Bullets with Jackie Kennedy leading the team with 6 points and a 48-23 victory.
On Sunday afternoon the final game of the tournament was played on the main court against the Long Island Lightining Slater team. The Xplosion lead early but fell behind before the half. The Lightining held the lead 24-21 at half. The team was a perfect 5 for 5 from the free throw line down the stretch and tied the score with under a minute to play. Taylor Butigian found Alyssa Olson open on the baseline with 9 second to play and Alyssa found the bottom of the hoop to win 42-40. Taylor Butigian led all scores with 16 while Alyssa Olsen added 10.

The Hoop Group Tournament saw the Xplosion 14's take 3 out of 4, two of those victories coming in Overtime.
Same Coach, New Haircut

After winning the New York State Federation Championship last week, Coach Bob Mackey had to live up to his promise of a new hair style. The 2010 Championship marks the 15th for Christ the King. The haircut a first.
